Matthew is a fifth generation native Santa Fean. His family history includes both great-grandfathers having been mayors of Santa Fe as well as an aunt who was the first female Supreme Court judge in New Mexico. Matthew also descends from a long line of real estate professionals including his grandmother, Shorty Sargent, and his father, Wally Sargent. Matthew currently works with family friends and past clients of his family; this business relationship will certainly continue to benefit both the clients and his own business practice. Matthew's strong work ethic, his enthusiasm, motivation and family background are all strengths that will surely help him to become a top-producing agent. Having attended the Brunn School, a private high school for advanced education, Matthew was well prepared for the scholarship offered to him through Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland. Here, he spent a semester studying abroad, immersing himself in the Swiss-Italian culture. Matthew completed his bachelor's degree in Humanities under scholarship at Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. He graduated Suma Cum Laude in May, '97 and returned to Santa Fe where he decided to follow the success of his family in the real estate industry. Matthew has participated in several National Outdoor Leadership School programs and is an avid outdoorsman; he loves skiing, hiking and horseback riding. Matthew also has creative talents in silversmithing. Being 1/8 Osage Indian, he was accepted into the Institute of American Indian Arts where he studied silversmithing, sculpture and artistic design. His strengths as a real estate agent are his honesty, dedication to customer service and his intimate knowledge of Santa Fe's marketplace.
